Heard Of Toxic Crystals? Some Stones Contain Toxic Inclusions

Written By Liz Oakes

Do you know how to use crystals sensibly? This page talks about how to use the stones you own, and its aim is to make you aware that some stones do contain toxic material.

Caution: Please take note of the following information, and be informed. There are some crystals that have toxic components, and these may or may not be bound up inside the crystal.

To lower your risk from these stones, you should use your crystals with care, and handle them in a responsible and sensible way.

If you wish to use stones to make crystal essences or elixirs, use the indirect method, where there is glass between the stone and the water.

Ensure you wash your hands after touching any raw unsealed stones of any kind, particularly if you do not know if they contain toxic components.

Use crystals sensibly, and where possible choose stones that are polished, tumbled or sealed.

Even when sealed, still take care how you manage your use of your crystals and stones, particularly when they are broken, or are raw or natural stones.

Stones Containing Toxic Inclusions

Please note: a number of stones contain minerals that are poisonous in some way. These stones should be treated with great care, so where possible I bring this to your attention so you can treat them carefully.

In this article about stones that contain toxic inclusions I endeavor to list as many as possible of the stones that contain minerals that may be harmful.

Some are more harmful than others so please do your homework before buying any stone, as its not always obvious, so be cautious.

This is why I feel that it is important when you are working with minerals to create crystal elixirs, that you only do it in the indirect way. Even if a crystal seems safe!

Be aware that some sellers clean stones with very chemicals, including strong acid to make them look more beautiful, and the residue may be on the stones. So you would not like to use an elixir made directly from these stones.

RealgarRealgar

The stone in the picture above is quite beautiful isn't it? I bought this stone some ten years ago, on its looks alone, not realizing that Realgar is an arsenic sulfide crystal.

No way would I ever suggest anyone use it! So its not anywhere else on my site and there are lots of other stones that I am not comfortable about discussing as they are just too toxic.

Some are only a problem if they are unsealed, so please do your homework. If you are particularly interested in a stone that has toxic minerals included, it is wise to be aware of this fact, and to make sure you use them with care.

There are some very toxic stones and these are not stones that I commonly recommend unless I make it clear that they can be harmful and to only use them inside a bag or by placing in a cabinet where their energy can resonate out to benefit you.

Use Crystals Sensibly... List of Stones

This page may be added to at a later date, as new information becomes available.

Although the following list contains a number of stones that should be treated cautiously, please note that there may be other stones that are not listed here, so please be cautious with all stones.

Assume that every stone should be treated with care, and if you don't know treat it with caution. Please take personal responsibility in your use of crystals, and use crystals sensibly.

If you are in doubt always act cautiously. Note that some crystals that have been irradiated to change their color are said to contain residual radiation.

This article is not meant to scare you, but it is important to be informed.

A good number of the stones on the list above are powerful healing crystals, and have many excellent benefits, so this is a method you can use that allows you to still take advantage of their vibration for healing.

If you keep stones that are known to be toxic inside a very strong sealed cloth bag, or even a plastic bag and/or box, the vibration will still come though without you having skin contact.

This is a possible way to use stones that are raw that are on the above list, or any you may be unsure of.

I was recently asked about radioactive minerals and have discovered a site  with more information about it here. So if you'd like to known more about that subject check out that information.
