As crystals retain energy, first and foremost they should be cleansed, to ensure that they are not holding any energy that you are unaware of and that you do not want for your work.

An easy way to do this is to leave your crystals somewhere where they will be bathed in direct sunlight or direct moonlight for the majority of a day or night. This may reset their energy.

Another way to boost a crystal’s energy is smudging. Smudging uses the sage smoke to lift unwanted energy. Simply pass your crystal through the smoke of a sage stick.

Sage is always a good choice cleaning crystals, but there are a number of other simple methods for cleansing your crystals, including the use of sound such as singing bowls or tingshas.

As well as cleansing your crystals of unwanted energy, you can imbue them with the energy that you would like them to hold.

The easiest way to do this is to hold your cleansed crystal in your hands while meditating on the particular energy that you would like the crystal to carry.

If you are using quartz crystals, they are the easiest to program. After cleansing they may be programmed with an affirmation to assist you to obtain the best outcome when doing your reading.

Preparation For Reading: Preparing Your Deck

Cleansing your deck: As you use your Tarot deck to draw different energies for you to read, some of this energy can stick to your cards.

Leftover energy from one reading can seep into another, leaving your next reading confused and unclear.

A Tarot reader will often know intuitively when their cards need to be cleansed of energy.

It is valuable to be aware of signs that its time to cleanse them, including not knowing when to stop shuffling, and a feeling like the cards are sticking together when shuffling and dealing.

One of the simplest ways to cleanse your cards is to store your cards with crystals between uses.

Just make sure that the crystals used for this purpose are also cleansed regularly.

Smokey Quartz is a good choice for storing with your deck as it is excellent at dispelling negative energy and relieving energy blockages.

Garnet is also perfect for card storage, as it not only cleanses, but protects against picking up unwanted energy.

Crystals For Tarot Reading: Managing Your Space

Managing your space is important. Unfortunately, few of us have the luxury of a dedicated tarot space, and the area we use for our tarot readings may also be used for other purposes.

The energy of these other purposes can embed themselves in the space, rendering the energy of the space inappropriate for a Tarot reading.

Adding crystals is an effective way to clear the energy of an area and transform it. Crystals can be used to both remove unwanted energy and draw in positive energy.

You may wish to place energy cleansing crystals at the perimeter of the space to help draw undesirable energy out of the area.

Citrine is an excellent crystal to use, as it not only dispels negative energy, but transmutes it into joyful energy. You can place crystals in the centre of the space to draw positive energy in.

Clear Quartz is also a useful choice for energetically cleansing a space and is powerful for clearing energy that may cause distractions.

Clear quartz can also be used with almost all other crystals in order to purify and amplify their energy.

You can use crystals that enhance spiritual vibrations in general, or if you are doing a specific type of reading, you can also place crystals that have an affinity with that particular type of energy.

Celestite are good crystals for tarot reading, as they help to draw in positive spiritual energy, in a general way, and should enhance your intuition and bring a calming energy to your space.

Rose Quartz resonates with a strong loving energy and it is beneficial to use it to encourage the area where it is placed to be filled love, peace and harmony.

This can be useful for many readings to aid clients open up about relationship situations and may boost your ability to empathise with them more strongly.

Crystals For Tarot Reading: Cutting The Connection

It is always important after a reading to cut the connection with a client, for a couple of reasons.

Sometimes after a particularly intense reading, or a particularly negative reading, some of the energy from the client or the reading can stick not just to the cards, but to you as well!

This can leave you feeling negative, drained of energy, or just feeling like out of sorts in some way.

The use of crystals that help to to sever energetic ties may be useful as it can be hard to know if any ties or cords have attached themselves during a reading.

Hold an appropriate crystal in your dominant hand and make cutting motions in front of your body while visualizing the person with whom you are trying to break in your mind.

Black Tourmaline is a good choice for cord cutting as it is helpful for preventing negative energy from taking hold.

This can also be a useful exercise to conduct with clients if it seems like energy from another person or incident is preventing them from moving forward.

As well as enhancing the energy of your space, you can use crystals to aid your own energy.

You can you use the vibration of specific crystals for tarot reading to manage your energy and focus.

They may benefit you by helping you to put aside any personal worries and concerns, and may aid you to focus on the reading.

To this end, many tarot readers hold a focusing crystals in their hand during their reading or wear one on their body.

In addition, you may find that crystals for boosting your intuition may help you.

Rubbing your fingers over the stone may help to enhance your intuition and may aid you to make a better connection with the cards.

There are a number of excellent crystals that enhance your ability to connect both to the cards and to your client.

The specific crystals for tarot reading that may be most beneficial include a number of the stones mentioned above, including Blue Aragonite, Purpurite, Covellite, Sphene and Shattuckite.

In addition to the other crystals for tarot reading, you may also like to use stones that have a strong action to boost your psychic gifts.
